The ENTP personality type gets a lot of representation amongst characters in anime. Although, with that being said, the same ENTP tropes do get reused constantly. Our aim with this article is to showcase a variety of ENTP anime characters, so you can see some different ways this personality type can manifest. We have written individual analyses for most of these, which you can check out, if youโ€™re interested in reading a more substantial case. Below, weโ€™ll just give a general overview of each anime character, and why we decided to include them as one of our examples of the ENTP personality type. Let us know what you think!

7 ENTP Anime Characters

1. Satoru Gojo from Jujutsu Kaisen

โ€œThe wave of power you guys have been trying to hold back with your pointless status and traditions has grown bigger than you can handleโ€ฆโ€

Satoru Gojo possesses the stereotypical cocky attitude that many people associate with ENTPs. As a character, heโ€™s a powerhouse, able to defeat just about any foe that would face him. However, in addition to power, Gojo has ambition. As both a Ti user and an inferior Si user, Gojo is very resistant to the archaic, regulated way of the Jujustu world. His goal is to reset the Jujutsu world, but through education, rather than violence. Heโ€™s fed up with the corruption and pointless traditions, intending to train strong allies and eventually use them to overturn the current hierarchy.

Gojo often comes across as callous or unsympathetic, but he does genuinely care about his students. As a teacher, he takes an eccentric and unstructured approach, in which he caters to each individualโ€™s needs. Gojoโ€™s good at finding potential sorcerers in strange places, and utilizing them for his benefit. Of course, heโ€™s willing to butt heads with leadership if he feels that the rules are getting in the way of something thatโ€™s worth the risk. Gojo often emphasizes a need to understand something, before trying to control it. Heโ€™s willing to accept trial and error as a natural part of that process.

2. Okabe Rintarou from Steins;Gate

โ€œNo one knows what the future holds. Thatโ€™s why its potential is infinite.โ€

Okabe Rintarou is a self-proclaimed mad scientist with a flare for the dramatic. In order to cheer up a friend, Okabe invents a persona and a conspiracy plot that he acts out nearly every waking moment, to the extent that onlookers might mistake him as delusional. However, Okabe is largely unbothered by this, focusing more on his own interests and pursuits. In daily life, heโ€™s both melodramatic and poetic, frequently speaking in metaphors and flowery language. He rarely struggles with small talk, and one of his friends even refers to him as a smooth talker.

Throughout the series, Okabe and his friends spend the majority of their time in a room that he dubs the โ€œFuture Gadget Laboratory.โ€ In the laboratory, they begin experimenting with time, with Okabe as their leader. He constantly pushes for further experimentation, logically nitpicks everyoneโ€™s idea, and fixates on naming conventions. Initially, Okabe shows no concern for altering the past, desiring to explore and experiment without any restraint. However, their tampering results in grave consequences, that only get worse with every attempt to fix it. Eventually, Okabe falls in the grip of Si, reaching a point where heโ€™s afraid to take any action at all.

3. Accelerator from A Certain Magical Index

โ€œThis is not a negotiation, a suggestion, a deal, an entreaty, an agreement, a compromise, or a capitulation. Itโ€™s my triumphant returnโ€ฆโ€

Accelerator is an example of the chaotic, unhinged ENTP villain turned anti-hero. Heโ€™s a powerhouse that indiscriminately throws attacks everywhere, at the risk of even killing himself. However, his lack of caution isnโ€™t something that heโ€™s concerned with. Rather, he gets a thrill out of challenges, and enjoys coming across new and interesting techniques (even when said technique is being utilized by his opponent). Accelerator will quickly get bored with someone who fights in a predictable, or repetitive way.

Accelerator is the type to ask a million questions, throw taunts, and spew a lot of technical terms before, and even during, battle. He can be quite detailed when he speaks, yet at the same time, fail to share any actual useful, detailed information. For instance, he tells Index to go to the doctor โ€œwhose face looks like a frogโ€, and gives her no specific information beyond the hospital name.

Throughout the show, itโ€™s clear that Accelerator needs a logical justification for doing everything, something that the protagonist criticizes him for. In addition, he spends a majority of the show reassessing himself, rationalizing why he can or cannot change, and using his past actions or the perspectives of others to define himself.

4. Cid Kagenou from Eminence in Shadow

โ€œInfinite possibilities now lie before me. Whatโ€™s my move?โ€

Cid Kagenou sees reality, and every day-to-day situation, for the possibilities it presents. He has a goal in life, to be the Eminence in Shadow, but this goal is vague and generic. He doesnโ€™t have a specific purpose behind it, he hasnโ€™t defined what exactly it means, nor does he pursue it in any structured way. Rather, heโ€™s an opportunist who relies on improvisation, adapting to circumstances as they come. With every new scenario or scene, Cid weeds through the possibilities, trying to determine which would have the best outcome and which would be the most interesting. Novelty is very important to Cid. He gets bored with too much of the same, often needing to seek out (or try out) new situations, roles, or plot lines.

Cid keeps himself detached from most things in life, including people. While he does draw in followers, he doesnโ€™t actually form any authentic relationships, nor does he strive to embody certain values. Instead, Cid lives by certain rules that heโ€™s established for himself, based on which character role he has determined to play. In addition, he pays close attention to social expectations in order to craft the exact image that heโ€™s going for.

5. Futaba from Persona 5

โ€œMy whole world is expanding. Every day brings new and different discoveries. The direction of Sojiroโ€™s cow lick, the atmosphere of Yongen, the various types of coffee beansโ€ฆ Things might be the exact same as they were yesterday, but from my perspective, itโ€™s all spinning. I knew it was possibleโ€ฆ but I had never really felt that sensation before now. I just hope I can keep changing little by littleโ€ฆ like everyone else does.โ€

Futaba is an example of an ENTP that is initially suffering from psychological trauma. She cuts herself off from the world as a form of punishment. She calls her bedroom (where she is holed up) her tomb. Her inner subconscious reflects this. However, while Futaba does cut herself off from the world physically, it doesnโ€™t stop her from finding ways to connect to the outside world with the internet. It doesnโ€™t even keep Futaba from doing things. She still has a very active life as a hacker, in spite of her circumstances. She also spies on the others through the use of cameras.

Later, when working through her trauma and re-acclimating to the outside of the world, Futaba is shown to be curious and talkative. She loves to speculate and throw around puns. She also isnโ€™t afraid to cause conflict with Ryugi or Yusuke (who she antagonistically calls Inari). Futaba is quick to logic things out when faced with a problem; she has a knack for piecing things together and making sense of them. She also likens her attempts to improve her social skills to a video game. For instance, Futaba describes how gaining courage to do different things has earned her XP, and that she feels like she has leveled up.

6. Hange from Attack on TitanHange Zoe

โ€œNothing ventured, nothing gained.โ€

Hange is a brilliant scientist and a effective soldier. Sheโ€™s determined to push the boundaries, and discover all there is to discover about their foe, the Titans. She believes that knowledge is the key to finally defeating them, and saving humanity. Early on, she makes the mistake of devaluing human life, via taking unnecessary risks, in an attempt to further her research. However, she learns to play by the rules, and gets all the backing that she needs to hypothesize and experiment. Later, she even goes on to become the commander of the Scouts, proving herself to be an effective leader that commands the respect of those around her.

Throughout the series, Hange is deeply loyal to her superior, Erwin. She follows his lead, and encourages others to do the same. While she can, at times, seem callous, Hange cares deeply for those around her, and demonstrates empathy when itโ€™s needed. On a day-to-day basis, sheโ€™s enthusiastic and eccentric. Sheโ€™ll talk someoneโ€™s ear off if they show even the slightest bit of interest in her research. Although, Hange has a calm and serious side, which surfaces more and more as the show progresses.

7. Reigen Arataka from Mob Psycho 100

โ€œI sense a new business venture.โ€

Reigen is the used car salesman of this article. He is an opportunist that uses the guise of being a spiritual medium as a way to sell services to individuals. Reigen is a charismatic, smooth talker who can seemingly talk or logic his way out of just about any situation. He can be extremely distractable, especially when a different (or more immediate) opportunity presents itself. Ironically, while the affirmation he gives his clients about being haunted are usually fraudulent, his solutions are frequently legitimate. For instance, Reigen gives a client a shoulder massage to relieve his aching shoulders, but frames it has an exorcism massage.

It is this same mindset, that initially spurred him to hire Mob. Reigen uses Mob for his own profit, doing so under guise of being a great spiritual mentor even though he is faking his own psychokinetic powers. Initially, he is oblivious to most of the extremely dangerous situations he and Mob find themselves in. As a result, Reigen downplays most everything that happens. However, throughout the show, he grows quite close to Mob, eventually forming an authentic bond with the boy. What Reigen lacks in spiritual advice, he more than makes up for by giving Mob support and life advice, which is what Mob really needs any.
