Si:

“This was a mistake.”

“Now you tell me?”

“I know where the nearest escape pods are.”

Fin is on the cautious side. While he is a trained soldier, he’s not interested in battle, nor is he interested in taking unnecessary risk. This leads to him being worry prone. When Han is taking them to meet Maz Kanata, Finn frequently questions whether or not this mystery person can actually be trusted. He also overly emphasizes his previous lie that he’s important to the Resistance and thus must be protected. Finn also typically knows where all of the escape pods are at any given time, which is shown in multiple cases, on both Resistance and First Order ships. This can also be used as an example of his Si detailed memory. In addition to this, he is shown remembering other places like the main breaker room (when collaborating with Rose). He also tends to explain the technical specifications of the different ships that get mentioned throughout the series, showing that he is taking in and remembering the details of things he has interacted with.

While he adapts to circumstances adequately, Finn does display a visible struggle or frustration in the process, especially when things aren’t going well. When Han informs him that the packages he’s handling are explosives, Finn seems dismayed and exclaims “Now you tell me?” Finn is frequently seen regretting past actions and is shown fretting over the different circumstances he gets into. He is also overly prone to worrying and is shown telling himself out loud to remain calm throughout the movies. In addition, he is terrible at coming up with lies on the spot. He attempts to use deception as means to maintain his safety and escape the First Order once and for all, but several people see through his lies incredibly easily (like Poe and Han). Along with this, when Han tries to use visual signals like nodding his head in a specific direction to point toward Rey’s location, Finn seems confused, not sure how to read the cue, and Han ends up having to explain out loud. He also appears to be somewhat skittish, being easily frightened by the animals on Canto Bight.

Fe:

Finn struggles to latch onto a personal cause or purpose. Initially in the trilogy, he’s mostly shown following Rey around or trying to save her. He helps the Resistance for a while, but purely because he’s trying to protect Rey. He’s frequently concerned about her. In the second movie, when the Resistance is in dire straits, Finn tries to flee the ship. He doesn’t want the beacon he is carrying to draw Rey back into danger. He is worried she will end up trapped by the First Order with the rest of the Resistance fleet. In addition, he lies about knowing how to disable the shields of the Star Killer simply so that he can rescue Rey. It’s not until at least halfway through the trilogy that he begins to adopt a personal connection to their cause. However, the main point to draw from this paragraph is that Finn naturally appears to focus more on others around him rather than drawing upon himself for purpose and direction.

Upon first meeting Rose, Finns revels in her admiration of him. When Rose has to give up her medallion, Finn gets angry for Rose and demands that the medallion be given back, empathizing with the fact that it means a lot to her. This can also be seen as an Si-Fe combination, since those two functions combined seem especially prone to sentimentality. In the third movie, when Finn and Poe initially reunite, they get into a flurried conversation. In this conversation, Finn stops mid-sentence, cutting himself off, in order to thank Poe for acknowledging him and stating that he needs his help to command. This is a good example of Fe needing to be socially polite and appropriate, and thus completely putting their own actions on pause in order to do so.

Ti:

Finn’s tertiary Ti is mostly shown in the way he tends to reason out loud, which is also partially due to his Si/Ne. Note that his Ti is not shown by the fact that he reasons out loud, but rather that we can observe how he strings his logic together and comes to realizations. He has a tendency to realize things mid-sentence, as he verbally rationalizes what’s going on around him. This is shown during times where he asks a question and then essentially answers the question himself as it clicks to him what’s going on. Examples of this can be seen when he’s asking why DJ is ransacking his own ship and then realizes it’s not DJ’s ship, or when Han is trying to nod him towards Rey and he feels it’s illogical until he realizes its significance. In addition, Finn is prone to displaying open uncertainty and hesitancy, which for him is a manifestation of his Si-Ti combination.

Ne:

“Stop enjoying this! Stop enjoying this!”

Finn’s inferior Ne is shown primarily by his complaints and the way he struggles in the middle of action. As we mentioned earlier, he is a trained soldier, so he does handle it adequately. However, he most certainly doesn’t thrive amidst the chaos. A good example of his inferior Ne can be seen when he and Rose escape on the wild animals during their visit to Canto Bight. He is clearly uncomfortable and yells out in a panicked fashion, telling her to stop enjoying the wild ride. Other hints of his Ne can be seen in the minor puns he makes such as calling Captain Phasma “chrome dome” due to her shiny armor.
