Fi:

“No, no I am lost. My wounded heart resides back home in pieces, strewn about the graveyard of my lost love.”

“No, I just want to wallow in misery.”

“I don’t really like labels. I’m just sort of, like, myself, you know?”

Wirt is a highly dramatic individual. He is very serious and introspective. Of course, the previous mentioned traits makes him prone to melancholy and negativity. He tends to like dwelling on his feelings, and even wallowing in them. This is primarily what ends up being his downfall. He tends to overly focus on his own problems, and fail to deal with what’s going on around him. He has a very obvious focus on love and his crush, which is brought up several times throughout the show, in spite of it being unrelated to their current dire predicaments. He is a more sensitive person, and holds interests like poetry and other hobbies related to art and self-expression.

Wirt is shown expressing distaste for labels, claiming that he is himself, which is a very individualistic type statement, making his Fi evident.

Ne:

“Do you think it’s some kind of deranged lunatic with an ax waiting out there in the darkness for innocent victims?”

Wirt is constantly drowning in possibilities. He tends to come up with worst case scenarios at the drop of a hat, sometimes followed by a paranoid plan to deal with the situation. However, he’ll also be shown changing his mind and not going through with it at the last minute. Wirt’s imagination tends to cause him to blow situations out of proportion as he fears everything that might happen, and essentially loses track of reality. He also tends to physically lose track of reality when his mind starts spinning on something, which is how he’s constantly managing to lose track of Greg.

Wirt is very metaphorical in his speech. His poetic nature surfaces constantly through the show as he finds flowery ways to express himself and his feelings. Of course, he enjoys writing poetry and is shown whispering it to himself at night. He also tends to ramble to himself a lot, which is an Ne tendency.

Si:

Wirt tends to speak in a detailed and specific fashion. When they come across Beatrice, rather than just saying that birds can’t speak, Wirt states that a “bird’s brain is not capable of cognizant thought. He also occasionally produces random, trivial information, like making a comment on the design of the room.

Wirt is also very cautious, and ultimately likes to be prepared as a result, which is not uncommon for Si, even when it’s as low as tertiary. Of course, this is the main reason why he likes to plan. His Si is high enough to give him that impulse, although not high enough to motivate him to go through with said plans or come up with more realistic ones.

Te:

Wirt’s Te is clearly his worst function. As stated a couple times already, he struggles to follow through with any particular plan. He tends to lack motivation, and fails to progress. Even though he’s supposed to be taking care of his brother, he doesn’t utilize his Te well. He frequently fails to even attempt to control Greg and loses track of him instead, causing him to get frustrated later and blame Greg for most of their problems.

Wirt’s inferior Te also can make him very extreme and stubborn. When Beatrice accuses him of being a pushover, he essentially gets offended and starts acting like an extreme version of what she accused him of. Walking into the school house, he mindlessly follows all of the teachers orders, making passive aggressive comments about not being able to leave because he had to obey the teacher due to being a pushover.
