Te:

“A rose is born as a rose. It won’t turn into another flower just because it was grown using a different kind of soil or water.”

“Her father, the only one who can protect her, is wishing for her death. She has no salvation at all.”

Aozaki is a very no nonsense person. She is blunt and has no problem telling people what she thinks. In addition to that, she seems to think aloud, vocalizing most of her speculations. She is shown constantly lecturing and explaining theoretical or abstract things to those around her, Mikiya and Shiki being the most common victims since they are in her employ. The frequency of which she does this, suggests extravert rather than introvert, in addition to the fact that she never appears to struggle to vocalize her thoughts.

Aozaki speaks in a very matter of fact way, coming up with and putting into action solutions as soon as she comes up with them. She is very down to business when it comes to dealing with her colleagues. When making a new arm for Shiki, Aozaki doesn’t simply give it to her but offhandedly mentions that it will be her payment for the job. She is very dominant in conversation, easily talking over others or interrupting them. When Mikiya finally wakes up (he was asleep for a long time due to his consciousness being captured), Aozaki goes about like nothing has happened and orders him to get her some coffee as she always does.

Another good example of her being an extravert is the fact that she’s able to completely change personalities based on the situation. Some might attribute this ability to Fe users. However, a dominant Te user could easily adopt this practice if dealing with people in different ways proved more efficient. An inferior Fi user is not as concerned with remaining true to self. Aozaki is good at portraying herself the way that she wants to be seen. For instance, sounding austere when first talking to Mikiya on the phone, but then acting friendly and laid back upon meeting him. Notice that she doesn’t really adapt her personality in response to people, but rather to fulfill some kind of perceived role. Once it was no longer necessary, she would openly revert back and even explain her entire reasoning behind it.

Ni:

“Don’t explain trivial things. I can tell what happened .”

“As a result, you end up flying above the clouds even after you die. Not falling to the ground, but as if falling towards the sky.”

“I know that it’s a misdiagnosis and that you’re lazy.”

“If fate allows, I’ll see you tomorrow.”

Aozaki is very perceptive when she wants to be. She always seems to know what others are thinking. She will answer questions that weren’t even asked, or give advice about something that those close to her never even mentioned. She is quite adept at reading situations and people’s intentions which she uses to her advantage.

Aozaki does not entertain what if possibilities like the retrovirus and quickly discards it as unlikely and moves on. She’s uninterested in hearing about or discussing what she deems to be “trivial”, which in reality is just context that she has already assumed and thus sees it as a waste of time. When visiting Shiki in the hospital, she points out that she knows Shiki has been misdiagnosed, but not saying anything about it. She calls her out rather flippantly acting like it was an obvious fact.

Other examples of her Ni manifesting is a scene where her and Mikiya are in a car and she starts to chide him about not being able to pick up on something (Ni); but at the same time she wasn’t paying enough attention in the moment and misses her turn, which he immediately points out to her (Si). You can also see a very abstract style in the mannequin artwork that she makes and sells.

Se:

“I just so happened to see it on sale so I bought it on impulse.”

“I didn’t buy it. I just happened to meet it.”

Aozaki has the typical lower Se weakness of impulse spending. Whenever she comes across something that trips her fancy, she will without hesitation spend all of her money on it. This also includes the money set aside to pay the wages of her employees. Mikiya, in one of the movies, makes a comment about this being yet another month that he will have to go without pay due to her spending habits.

While she always seems to have some kind of plan in place, Aozaki doesn’t seem to get to phased when things don’t pan out. She is relatively adaptable, even though you can tell it isn’t her go to method. For example, her fight with Souren Araya does not go as planned, but she still had the back up plan of her second body coming into play if she were to be killed. She can also be a bit of a show off in the moment when she wants to be. An example of this would be when she deflects one of Alba’s strongest fire attacks and nonchalantly uses it to light her cigarette.

Fi:

“In a business like this, there are times when you need to change as the situation demands… I’m switching my personality depending on how I view things.”

“I kill anyone who calls me a dirty red.”

Aozaki’s inferior Fi manifests mostly in her lack of empathy for others. She openly laughs at the irony of Fujino’s abilities being stifled by her sensation being taken away versus Shiki’s ability to gain strength through the lack of feeling.

When Shiki is dealing with phantom pains due to her new arm, Aozaki pleasantly informs her that there fortunately is a solution to them. Instead of it being a real solution, however, she sarcastically informs her the solution is to deal with it.

She is shrewd, willing to adjust the way she acts and talks to put her at the best advantage. She is not bothered by changing her behavior in ways that wouldn’t be consistent with herself. She would much rather act in whatever way suits her the best in that moment. This kind of behavior typically is the result of low Fi.
