Fi:

“Wait just a minute! That’s wrong! …and it’s immoral! I’m certain that you didn’t appreciate it when they were cruel to you.”

“Do not treat others poorly.”

“How lovely. Another perfect day. And yet, so lonely. If only I could share the sunrise with my friends. Yes, I’m sure I can someday, because whatever happens the sun will always rise. So long as I stay alive, I have hope. We will all meet again.”

Brook is very sentimental and emotional. He enjoys reminiscing and talking about his feeling. Brook is the type still feels lonely, even when surrounded by people. When separated from his friends, even though he’s never alone at any point during the two year separation, he still expresses feeling a deep loneliness. He also holds himself to very high standards. Upon initially joining the Straw Hat crew, Brook obsesses over whether or not he is worthy of being on their crew, and specifically asks Luffy if he deserves to be a crew member. He also goes around asking each and every crew member at the time how he can help in an attempt to find his place. Later after his first battle with the Straw Hats, he gets incredibly upset because all he does is drown rather than contribute. He dramatically declares that he will right this wrong. As any good Fi, Brook is determined to hold resolute to his promises, refusing to return to Laboon from the wrong direction. He’s also known to lecture people on right and wrong when confronted with something he strongly disagrees with. In addition, Brook is somewhat naive. During the two year gap, he is overly eager to believe that he has changed the people attacking the village that had “summoned” him, and ends up being kidnapped as a result.

Se:

“Come on everybody. Life’s a lot more fun when you’re dancing to the music.”

“The majesty of nature is truly humbling. Why, my eyes would be popping out of my skull, if I had any eyes to speak of, I mean.”

“Chopper, skull jokes are the only thing I have. Please don’t take that away from me.”

Brook prefers to live in the moment, and enjoy the simple pleasures in life. He enjoys relaxing on a beautiful day while sipping tea or playing a tune. When Kamey is kidnapped on the Sabaody Archipelago, Brook and Chopper are told to wait until they get picked up. Brook doesn’t seem at all frazzled, and convinces Chopper not to worry. He tells him that time would move as fast as time would move, and there is no point in worrying since they are doing all that they can do. He repeatedly states that they should wait in peace and tranquility. By the time the others arrive to get them, Brook and Chopper are basically napping. Whenever people’s spirits are down, Brook is quick to play a tune to liven the mood. When him and his old crew are dying, Brook has them sing a song one last time. This is typical action-oriented Se… bonding through shared experience. Brook is also easily bored, and usually feels the need to be physically occupied in some way at all times. This is not typical of Ne. Ne users can frequently find amusement within their own mind. He’s also not very creative with his jokes, sticking exclusively to bone and skull themed humor. I considered him being an Se dominant, but he seems to overemphasize a need to be calm and relaxed, while also frequently preferring to laze around and watch others, rather than attempting to get involved in whatever excitement is going on.

Ni:

Brook’s Ni shows up primarily as a lack of foresight and his type of memory.  Brook seems to easily talk about the past, no matter how sad or painful the memory is. This would potentially be more of a struggle if he was an Si user. In addition, he doesn’t appear to worry much about the future. When seeing that the auction house on Sabaody is completely blocked, Brook, in a completely unconcerned way, simply says “Goodness! What a quandry! Well then, let’s crash right through.” In contrast, Usopp begins freaking out. Also, during their visit to the amusement park, Brook is shocked every single time a ride turns out to be not as relaxing as it initially seemed, even though every single ride thus far had been that way. In addition, on Punk Hazard, he keeps trying to call the Mini Merry “Little Lamb”, unable to recall the actual name, which could be an example of impressionistic memory. Lastly,  there is one other odd way in which Brook’s Ni surfaces: his determination to reach 45 degrees. Brook never really explains the significance of this, why it matters, or how it’ll help, but he believes that he must reach 45 degrees for Luffy. This has a personal significance to Brook and to Brook alone, the meaning is not at all readily apparent to anyone else.

Te:

“Neither god’s nor devils will help those who won’t fight on their own. In times like these, it is important to stand resolute against evil, even if the odds seem insurmountable.”

With inferior Te, Brook is generally unstructured. He doesn’t struggle to listen to authority, since he doesn’t feel much of a need to exert his own structure on the world. His behavior is also chaotic and erratic. However, whenever confronted with something that goes against his deeply ingrained values, Brook doesn’t hesitate to speak out.
