NOTICE: We have temporarily stopped taking paid requests in order to focus on other projects. If you wish to recommend a show for us to watch, feel free to contact us. Weโ€™re certainly willing to analyze shows that are interesting and reasonably popular, with well-developed characters.

If you enjoy our character analyses and would like us to focus on a specific movie/series/etcetera, we are open to paid requests. You must reach out to us via the email form at the bottom of this page to discuss the details of the request, and get it approved. Once thatโ€™s happened, weโ€™ll send you a payment link. However, before you contact us, there are a few things you must know. If youโ€™re a return customer, please note that the below information has been recently updated.

Request Guidelines

1. We donโ€™t accept all requests.

To save us all time, here are two guaranteed reasons that we will reject a request:
โ€“ Prevalence of sexual or lewd content (TV-MA or R rated for sexuality is a guaranteed no)
โ€“ Horror (horror elements are fine, but pure horror is not our thing)

2. The request needs to be an efficient use of our time.

Requests cost us a significant out of time, yet only represent a portion of what Practical Typing does. Therefore, in order to keep up with our theory-focused articles and projects, we are becoming more selective about the requests that we accept. The three main factors that we consider are:

(1) entertainment: if itโ€™s enjoyable enough, itโ€™ll feel like downtime rather than work.
(2) popularity: if itโ€™s popular, itโ€™ll draw in traffic, increasing our siteโ€™s impact.
(3) character depth: we prefer to populate our character archives with worthwhile personality type examples.

Between media length and writing time, paid requests basically earn us pennies, so they have to provide value via the above factors to be worth it. (We donโ€™t imagine anyone would want to pay $100+ for their obscure or nostalgic request.) Your request doesnโ€™t have to be a trifecta, so long as we ultimately deem it an efficient use of our time. Feel free to make a case when you submit your request.

3. Youโ€™re paying for the media, not the characters

Youโ€™re not paying per character. Youโ€™re paying for us to consume the content in which the character appears. So, if you request a character that appears in a single movie, youโ€™ll pay the single movie rate. If that character appears in a series, youโ€™ll pay the series rate.

4. Not all characters can be typed

We do our best to fulfill your request. However, not all characters get enough development to make their personality type identifiable. We will pay special attention to the characters that you specifically mention to us, but if they donโ€™t get enough screen time to be confidently typed, we will not type them. In those instances, we will share our thoughts with you on those unidentifiable characters, but we will not refund you. You are paying for our time, and whatever content can be produced which adheres to our standard.

5. Requests take time to fulfill

Be prepared for it to take up to a few months for us to publish the character analyses from your request. The exact amount of time will vary based on how many requests are currently in our queue, and how much of a time investment your request is. (A couple of movies is no big deal; a series is a different story entirely.) Weโ€™ll try to give you a rough estimate beforehand.

Approximate Pay Structure

*Exact price for your request will be determined after you submit the request, based on the anticipated time investment. These are estimates.

  • $10 for a single movie
  • $20 for characters that appear in a series
  • $20 for a historical figure or a novel
  • $30 for a TV show or universe
  • $10 for an anime 12 episodes or less
  • $15 for an anime series that is 13-25 episodes
  • $20 for an anime series thatโ€™s more than 25 episodes
  • $30 for an anime series thatโ€™s more than 50 episodes*
