Ne:

“If you’re going to take on Klaue, you need the best that the design group has to offer. Exhibit A. My design.”

“Old tech, functional, but old. Hey! People are shooting at me, wait! Let me put on my helmet! Now, look at these. Do you like that one?”

Shuri appears to be Ne dominant. Firstly, she appears to be an extravert as she is very bold and quick to speak, even in a public setting. (The obvious example being at T’Challa’s coronation ceremony). She also gains a thrill from operating the car remotely during the mission to retrieve Klaue (hence the screams of excitement). She doesn’t seem bothered by the potential risk to her brother, Okoye, or Nakia, in spite of the dangerous nature of the mission which suggests an extraverted perceiving dominant.

Shuri is obviously inventive and innovative. She heads up the Wakandan Design Group, and is responsible for much of Wakanda’s recent technological advancements. She has worked on or developed a variety of gadgets, equipment, and etcetera. In her short amount of screen time in the movie, she’s shown presenting various things like two design options for a new concealed Black Panther suit, noiseless shoes, and more.

Shuri is also very witty, and frequently making jokes. She makes one very obvious Ne pun style joke in the lab with T’Challa, where she informs him that she has named the new sound proof shoes “sneakers.” Of course, she finds this joke infinitely amusing. Shuri is also shown making other humorous references, like sarcastically telling Agent Ross that he is in Kansas after he wakes up in their facility.

Ti:

“Just because something works doesn’t mean that it cannot be improved.”

Shuri’s Ti manifests in a couple of different ways throughout the movie. She gets clearly frustrated by being bound to or controlled by the rules and traditions (which will also be mentioned in inferior Si.) As a result, she is shown mocking T’Challa, and responding sarcastically to some of his choices, like wearing traditional sandals on his first day as King. Mocking and sarcasm is generally part of her personality. While she has her sober, sensitive moments due to extreme situations like T’Challa’s death, Shuri as a whole doesn’t appear to demonstrate a lot of emotion or sympathy, and prefers a more sarcastic back-and-forth banter type of relationship with those in her life.

Her Ti is also shown in the way that she never finds any of her inventions as complete, feeling the need to constantly refine and improve them. For instance, she spars with her brother over wanting to take the kimoyo beads back to update them. When he insists that they work perfectly, Shuri chides him and launches into an explanation as to how things can always be improved.

Lastly, Shuri doesn’t display (or vocalize) a very prominent set of values throughout the movie even though she clearly has them based off of her actions within the plot. This suggests a Ti user rather than an Fi user.

Fe:

“This corset is really uncomfortable… so could we all just wrap it up and go home?”

“The Black Panther lives. And when he fights for the fate of Wakanda I will be right there beside him.”

Shuri displays the classic signs of a tertiary Fe user which tends to be more socially mischievous. A prominent example of this can be seen when she seemingly challenges T’Challa’s right to the throne, only to complain about having to wear a corset and mockingly request that they finish up the ceremony quickly.

However, Shuri is also very supportive of her brother during critical moments, and will make statements expressing her supportive nature. The most obvious example is shown in the quote at the beginning of this section, which she states shortly after they essentially revive T’Challa from a nearly dead state.

Shuri also displays a bubbly and optimistic nature, which in her case, is the result of her Ne-Fe combination. While we mentioned earlier that she doesn’t demonstrate emotions very often, that was specifically in regards to more personal emotions. She tends to be very emotionally expressive in the more smiling and laughing type of way, which is a use of her Fe.

Si:

“I invite you to my lab and you just kick things around.”

Shuri’s inferior Si manifests in her tendency to attack traditions and established rules. She openly displays her opinions on things like the traditional dress for ceremonial events and mocks her brother for ‘going old school’ wearing traditional sandals. She shows a general disregard for the past, which is further supported when she suggests tearing down the building in which their father killed their uncle. This is in stark comparison to T’Challa who intended to remake it into something new, essentially preserving it.

Shuri also gets a bit particular in her lab, which is suggested when she mentioned T’Challa having his “toes out” in her lab. This could be the result of inferior Si being very particular (or detail-oriented) about certain things that they deem important.

Lastly, she lists off specific detailed information about Killmonger when he first shows up on scene, as proof that they know who he is.
