Bleach: Coyote Starrk (ISTP)
Ti:
โIโm pleased to know that your ability isnโt some mindless trick that only reflects your enemyโs attacks back at them.โ
โFighting all out just doesnโt suit my personality. Actually we could just pretend weโre fighting. I suggest we just wait things out, you know, until the others finish fighting.โ
Starrk gets very little screen time, but he appears to be a Ti dominant. He possesses the indifferent and apathetic attitude that Ti dominants are known for. While he is loyal to Aizen, he doesnโt really express any strong loyalties toward him, like Fi dominants are known for. Starrk struggles to motivate himself, and really dedicate himself to Aizenโs cause, having joined purely for the companionship (Fe). For instance, if at all possible, heโll skip a fight altogether, and doesnโt seem to get emotionally wrapped up in ideals like honor or duty.
While he is the highest ranked Espada, Starrk doesnโt feel at all compelled to enforce his leadership position, and without hesitation, yields command to the number two Espada during the battle over Karakura Town. In battle, heโs highly analytical and remains somewhat standoffish while analyzing his opponentโs techniques (with the exception of defense and attacks to explore his opponentโs abilities, but more on that in the Se section). While fighting Jushiro Ukitake, he is pleased that Jushiroโs technique is more complex than a simple reflection. This suggests a Ti users enjoyment of complex systems or possibly their enjoyment of solving puzzles.
Se:
โLetโs just go home and take a nap.โ
Lilynette: โWhat do we do now?โ
Starrk: โWe can do anything.โ
Lilynette: โWell then, where should we go?โ
Starrk: โAnywhere.โ
Starrk is generally laid back, and just takes things as they come. He has no apparent long term goals. For instance, in the discourse between him and Lilynette in the quotes above, he has no specific plan of action or place he wants to go, but he expresses a general willingness to do or go anywhere.
In battle, he uses physical attacks to gather information to analyze his opponent and test out their limitations. For instance, he fires one hundred shots at an opponent to test the limit of his ability once he observes that thereโs some complexity to it. That seems to be a pattern of his: keep attacking until the opponentโs power is fully figured out. He doesnโt seem to invoke any serious strategies or attack them in any legitimate way until that point. Lastly, when annoyed with Lilynette while in gun form, his go to response is to whack the gun up against his head to chastise her.
Ni:
โBut I can feel it. Somethingโs not right.โ
โYou blocked that rather well. Iโll be sure and take that into consideration as I predict your next acts of futility.โ
Starrkโs Ni is evident in the way that he comfortably takes incomplete information and forms assumptions around them. Combining his Ni with his Ti allows him to draw singular conclusions about the way his enemyโs techniques work without having a full set of information to work with. For instance, simply by noting what Shunsui says and that the strike did not have damage equal to the amount of force born in the strike, Starrk is able to predict how his shikai works.
He also uses his ability to pick up on patterns in order to predict where his opponent would show up next, so he could fire a shot before they got there, hindering their ability to dodge. In general, he takes a more intuitive and experimental approach when battling, preferring to observe his opponent in order to predict future actions (Se/Ni).
Fe:
โI want to become weak and if thatโs not possible, then I at least want to make friends that are as strong as me.โ
Starrkโs Fe shows up in a few different ways. He states several times that he wishes that he could have friends or be part of a pack. He splits himself into two beings in an attempt to quell that loneliness. All that being said, Starrk does not interact much with the other individuals in Hueco Mundo, choosing mostly to keep to himself. This is evidence of his Fe being low. While he desires having friends and comrades, he is content knowing that he has them. He keeps them at an armโs length and fails to get close to any of them.
Starrk also shows a distaste for Aizenโs lack of caring when the number two espada, Barrangan, dies, which is another example of his Fe coming out. He states that he finds it shameful. Starrk also takes an apologetic stance when speaking with others. Specifically, he apologizes before abducting Orihime, stating he โdidnโt enjoy these types of assignmentsโ. Another thing of note is the fact that he and Shinsui spend most of their battle complimenting each otherโs skills, which would track with being an Fe user.
