One Piece: Donquixote Doflamingo (ENFJ)
Fe:
โI wonโt forgive anyone who messes with my family.โ
โI can only entrust this to a genius like you.โ
โStirring our emotions is his tactic.โ โ Trafalgar Law
Doflamingo from One Piece desires everybodyโs love and admiration. He gathers together a โfamilyโ early on and bands with them to achieve his goals. He treats the members of his โfamilyโ as if they are all precious and important to him, although this is all mostly surface level. Even so, his behaviours, mannerism, speech, and actions all show forth Fe. A prime example of this would be when he initially comes in and takes over the kingdom of Dressrosa. Instead of coming in as a ruthless conqueror, he manipulates things from behind the scenes to make himself look like the hero. He accomplishes this by manipulating the king and his men forcing them into killing the citizens, allowing him to swoop in and stop them, effectively saving the day. This style of takeover nods towards Fe because instead of ruthlessly taking over and making everyone hate him in the process, he frames everything in such a way that it sways the hearts of all the people of the kingdom and garners their support.
Doflamingo also likes to use such tactics as flattery to get others to do what he wants and can be seen throughout the show telling members of his family they are the only one he can trust to complete a task for him. In spite of his ruthlessness, he does show a fair bit of gratitude toward those under him when they are making a sacrifice for his behalf. For example, he does so when Monet intends to end her life in order to blow up the Straw Hats with her. He is also a very charismatic person and is well liked by all those who are not aware of his dark and evil side.
Ni:
โI sensed he would become my right-hand man in ten years or so.โ
Doflamingoโs Ni can be seen almost as easily as his Fe. He is seen pulling the strings from behind the scenes (both figuratively and literally) throughout the show. His preferred choice of controlling others is through manipulation, and Ni allows him to pick up on the details he needs to do just that. Other members of the family are seen on multiple occasions claiming that Doflamingo is a visionary because of his one clear goal and plan to get there. Doflamingo also is shown in various scenes talking about fate and how things are written in stone. When initially seeing Law as a child, he recognizes the look in his eyes and identifies with it. Seeing his desire to destroy everything, Doflamingo decides that in 10 years Law would be his right hand man, until Corazon changes Lawโs outlook on life and Law betrays him.
When it is revealed to the country of Dressrosa that Doflamingo is truly evil, he offers up an ultimatum. Setting a timer so to speak on their impending deaths, he claims that if they capture the Straw Hats for him he would spare the country and give them a monetary reward. He uses this manipulation to get others to do his dirty work for him, while simultaneously making it more difficult for the Straw Hats to oppose him as they will have to avoid everyoneโs attempts to capture them.
When dealing with Law, Doflamingo continually tries to undermine Lawโs resolve and get him upset in order to throw him off. He tries to say that Law has no free will, claiming that everything Law had done up to this point is because Doflamingo had manipulated him into doing it.
Se:
While Doflamingo is not one to usually get his hands dirty, when he does his Se becomes fairly evident. He gets an obvious rush from combat, and he frequently has a wild smile on his face with his tongue sticking out as he is mowing down his foes. He is also frequently laughing maniacally as well. He has bold and outrageous style choices which suggest low use of Se via aesthetics. His Se is also evident because he desires the indulgences of wealth and power.
Ti:
โPirates are evil. The navy is just, but thatโs only true because history tells us so. Children whoโve never known peace have different values than children whoโve never known war. The one who wins will rewrite the definition of right and wrong. Theyโll decide the future and how the past is written. Will justice prevail? Why thereโs no other way! The winner will define the meaning of justice!โ
Doflamingoโs Ti manifests in his closed off views of how the world works. His internalized logic leads him to believe that killing his father and bringing his head back to the celestial dragons would lead them to re-accept him. When this did not work, he simply decides the whole world must be destroyed. His views of how justice and values are completely relative and decided by the victors are over exaggerated and based mostly on what he has deemed to make sense. While his logic isnโt entirely wrong, it does not line up accurately to actual reality. This all is in line with a poor/unhealthy use of Ti.

Good typing! Doffy is a great example of an unhealthy Fe-dom who loves playing around with emotions. He plays around with his opponents even though it would be more efficient to just finish them off because he loves feeding off their emotions. It is easy for him to rant about his feelings aloud even to Luffy and Law-claiming that the pain they have led is nothing compared to his. I have read somewhere that unhealthy Fe-dom rely on social consensus to justify their decisions and if you disagree with them they could publicly humiliate you/launch a hate campaign against you. What do you think about this?
Iโm also having a little trouble understanding how inferior Ti works so I was hoping if you could expand a bit upon that more in relation to Doflamingo.
Also what type do you think Corazon is? Personally I think he is an INFP.
1. Itโs plausible they may do this. Itโs going to be a matter of the ENFJโs position, social status, and a myriad of other variables as to whether they would employ that particular method or not.
2. You can read inferior Ti into the way he set up the kingdom of dressrosa. Everything on the surface level looked like it was happy and made sense, but if you read any further into the situation or questioned anything things quickly start to not make sense. His inferior Ti twists facts and logic to align with his Fe viewpoints. He enforced fake harmony through deception, manipulation, and silencing those who spoke out against him, but tried to pass it off as real harmony.
3. I have yet to fully analyze Corazonโs character so I canโt really give an answer.
I like the way you justified typing Doffy as ENFJ. Iโve seen him typed as ENTJ and ENTP but youโve made the best case Iโve seen so far. I saw a lot of Fe in the way he ingratiates his โfamilyโ to him but couldnโt decide if his capriciousness was Ne or Se.
I was wondering, what do you make of Shanks? Iโve seen evidence for both ENFJ and ENFP. Iโm leaning more towards ENFJ after recent chapters but would love to see your take on it!
Thanks, Iโm glad you liked the article. Itโs hard for me to say what type Shanks is. Havenโt seen much of him in the show, so not much for me to go off of. We are watching the anime and havenโt read the manga. Looking forward to seeing more of him in the future!
Thanks for your opinion, I still disagree and see him as an ENTP and see more Ne in him than Ni. I think his Fe developed to argue the family aspect of him, But Doflamingo uses Ne, his entire speech of the thrown and the possibilities of the future and him hyping that up on whoโs gonna take the thrown, and breaking it down logically? Ne + Ti, cโmon that scene still brings chills to my spine. But thatโs my opinion and my example of a obvious Ne + Ti moment just to name one with his infamous Throne War speech, watch that speech again so you can see where Iโm coming from with it, the Ne is clear. Thanks for opinion though even if their different, and for the comment above Shanks is INFJ. I used to believe ENFP at one point but INFJ makes the most sense for him.
