One-Punch Man: Genos (ISTJ)
Si:
โIt all started 4 years agoโฆ I was 15 years old and still a normal human being. Even in this harsh world, I had a pretty happy and peaceful life with my family until thenโฆโ
โIf this is the path you choose to walkโฆ I will not interfere. But if you turn the people against youโฆ Will you be able to function as a hero? This worries me. But if you ever get in a tight spotโฆ I will be there.โ
โThis hero is dangerous. I must be careful around him.โ
Genos is dutiful, diligent, and detail-oriented. Genos is shown analyzing every situation he faces in great detail. He also gives very long-winded explanations, chalked full of information.ย Shortly after after arriving at Saitamaโs place, Genos is quick to share his entire back story, which nearly drives Saitama crazy with impatience, and causes him to impose a word limit on Genos. Genos does not struggle with long monotonous tasks, when heโs working toward a goal. When trying to learn the secret behind Saitamaโs power, Genos trails him carefully and takes detailed notes, considering every possibility. He is shown taking notes other times while under the โtutelageโ of Saitama.ย Genos also submits easily to authority once he puts himself under it. When he finally convinces Saitama to take him on as a disciple, Genos immediately calls him master and takes everything he says very seriously. (Another note here is that Genos takes everything extremely literally โ indicating the lack of a high intuition function.) From that point on, he strives to defend Saitama (whether physically or verbally) and follows whatever orders he is given. While he may express a disagreement with Saitama from time to time, Genos usually backs down quickly and doesnโt make an issue of it.
Te:
โIn the interest of efficiency, I thought itโd be best to destroy them all in one shot.โ
โI am willing to do anything to become more powerful. However, I canโt picture myself coming even close to attaining teacherโs powerโ
Genos is very disciplined and goal-oriented. He trains hard to gain power, determined to fight for justice. He aims to one day find the cyborg that ruined his life and kill him. Genos is willing to do whatever it takes to achieve his goal. He gives up nearly his entire body and becomes a cyborg in an effort to become stronger. He also strives to finish whatever task he is confronted with quickly. While Saitama is looking for excitement, Genos just wants to achieve the desired end result. During one episode, Genos destroys an entire building (housing the enemy base) in one shot, from a long distance away, claiming that it was more efficient. (Saitama looks on in shock, and perhaps slight disappointment.) Genos is also very serious and level-headed. He is not often shown expressing his own emotions, and is oftentimes portrayed as blunt and harsh. For example, when invited to Silver Fangโs dojo, Genos inadvertently insults him after a studentโs demonstration of power by asking, โis he really your best student?โ Genos is also skeptical and critical. When Saitama explains the โsecretโ to his power, Genos immediately argues against it, claiming it to be impossible.
Fi:
โI am a lone cyborg fighting for justice!โ
โEven if the public does not appreciate you or what you have done, I will still follow youโ to Saitama
Genos has high personal standards, and is determined to fight for justice no matter what the cost. He approaches everything in life with utmost seriousness, and strives to do his best. Genos aces the exam to get into the Hero Association. He is very hard on himself, worries about failure, and feels like heโs failed constantly. He is very loyal to Saitama, and strives to support him in all of his decisions and actions. He looks up to Saitama as well, and feels the need to record Saitamaโs โwords of wisdom.โ Heโs also tries to encourage Saitama whenever something happens that might get him down, like when the public blames Saitama for the destruction caused by the meteor. Genos tells him that he has never met anyone as amazing as him and that he will follow Saitama no matter what.
Ne:
โโฆif I do happen to take it out, what then? The meteor may break apart and still cause a disaster. Will my weapon be powerful enough to stop it? Even Metal Knightโs countless missiles had no effect.โ
Genos overthinks everything and worries a lot. When faced with a falling meteor, Genos is shown considering all of the possible outcomes in the middle of the battle. Silver Fang interrupts him and chides him for overthinking and worrying. Saitama is shown chiding him for the same reasons and other points in the show. Genos is also frequently shown questioning whether or not something heโs about to do will work, and imagining what would have happened if something hadnโt worked out the way it did. In addition, Genos stalks Saitama in an effort to learn the secret to his power, and while doing so, over analyzes everything. He even steals one of his french fries and analyzes its ingredients. He seems almost paranoid, and considers every possibility, including whether or not Saitama is a cyborg like him.
