Te:

โ€œLove is not necessary, power is the only true necessity.โ€
Power is not will, it is the phenomenon of physically making things happen.
โ€œNine-Tailsโ€ฆyou require a guide to show you purpose. That guide is the Uchiha! The tailed beasts are but slaves to those with blessed eyes. Obey!โ€

We debated between Madara Uchiha being an ENTJ or an INTJ, but weโ€™ve settled on ENTJ, and I will explain why. For starters, Madaraโ€™s extraversion is clear as a child, because he doesnโ€™t hesitate to speak, nor does he struggle with it, beyond maybe struggling to hold back certain words or secrets.ย  For instance, he almost declares to Hashirama that he has use of the Sharingan, and then catches himself. The constant struggle to not speak is a dead giveaway of extraversion. As an adult, Madara obviously learns to control this tendency more. Madara is also usually at the forefront. Heโ€™s not typically a background player unless he has to be. (IE: When he is old and about to die, he is incapable and thus comes up with an alternate strategy. However, once he is revived, Madara goes right back to being at the forefront of the conflict. He out-and-out declares to everyone that he has been manipulating them, and etc.)

Madara desires to implement order onto the world, like any strong Te user does. Of course, in his vision of a perfect world, Madara the ruler. As a kid, Madara determines that the way to make people listen is amass as much power as possible, so he canโ€™t be ignored by the adults. His desire for power is clear, and he has no qualms commanding others and ruling over them. Even as a child, Madara is always obstinate and bossy. When he first meets Hashirama, Madara orders the kid to tell him his name, and constantly yells at him in frustration and anger throughout their entire friendship. His constantly barks order at Hashirama, controlling when and how they train. He calls out his observations of Hashirama bluntly, not accepting any of Hasharimaโ€™s misdirection or dismissals. He calls out small things like the lameness of his outfit and hair, to bigger things like forcing Hashirama to admit when something is wrong.

Of course, Madara smothers out his own feelings in order to achieve this goal, or when reality mandates him to. He quickly gives up on his friendship with Hashirama once their respective clans learn of their meetups. As shown in the quote above, he believes that everyone is better off keeping their emotions inside. That is the natural viewpoint of any dominant Te user.

Ni:

โ€œThe concept of hope is nothing more than giving up. A word that holds no true meaning.โ€
โ€œRed vapor. The blood vapor thatโ€™s peculiar to all eight gates being open. But now actually seeing it with my own eyes, itโ€™s almost the color of dead autumn leaves that have fallen off their tree.โ€
โ€œYou are merely a momentary life, a temporary existence of coalesced energyโ€ฆ an energy that once was a single, ultimate form!โ€

Madara is incredibly patient, and vision oriented. He determines that the only way to fix the world is to engulf everyone in a dream world, in which he is the ruler. The vision initially seems far out there, not grounded in reality, but Madara ends up almost making it happen. However, in order to achieve his goal, Madara creates a plan that spans lifetimes. He grows old and dies, but not before hatching an incredibly elaborate plan that would ensure he is reincarnated later to realize his vision.

Madara frequently speaks symbolically and in metaphors, even in the midst of battle. He likes to describe concepts, and their true meaning. There is some kind underlying meaning in many of the things Madara says. However, his Ni is not always that strong because it takes him a long time to figure out that Hashirama frequently uses emotion to get an upperhand in their mini-competitions as children. Hashirama has to tell Madara outright that that is what he is doing before it clicks in Madaraโ€™s head, which is further indication that Madara is not a dominant Ni user.

Se:

โ€œYouโ€™re the first since Hoshirama to make me this excited!โ€
โ€œIโ€™d be lying if I said things are going according to my planโ€ฆ but beggars canโ€™t be choosers, right?โ€
โ€œIf thereโ€™s a way where neither side has to die, itโ€™d be where they revealed whatโ€™s inside of them, hid nothing, and they drank together like they were brothers.โ€

Madaraโ€™s Se is the main reason I believe Madara to be an ENTJ. Madara has very obvious Se. Madara is excited by a physical challenge, and declares this every time he faces a worthy opponent. He is and always has been highly competitive. Madara is also not afraid to improvise when necessary, and even admits at one point that things are not going according to his plan. However, he doesnโ€™t seem concerned, and even appears amused by it. Although, he also warns against improvising โ€œwhat you cannot handle,โ€ which is a lesson a lower Se user might impart.

While declaring to Hashirama the type of world Madara would wish for, Madaraโ€™s scenario includes people drinking together like brothers. Bonding through a sensory activity is a common Se desire and tendency.

Fi:

โ€œPeople cannot show each other their true feelings. Fear, suspicion, and resentment never subside.โ€
โ€œIf thereโ€™s a way where neither side has to die, itโ€™d be where they revealed whatโ€™s inside of them, hid nothingโ€ฆBut then thatโ€™s impossible, cause one canโ€™t really look deep inside someone and see who they really are. In reality, they could both be seething inside.โ€
โ€œThe first step is to not give up on our ideals.โ€
โ€œWeakness of any kind revolts me.โ€

As stated above, Madara keeps his emotions inside, which is standard for introverted feelers. Although, deep down, he desires to create a world in which people can show each other their true selves, although he believes this to be impossible, because people will always have some hidden darkness inside. He explains this to Hashirama at the river that they frequently met at as kids. Unfortunately, in the process of trying to drive toward his goal, Madara loses sight of his own ideals and morals, and all thatโ€™s left is achieving his goal no matter the cost. Essentially, Madara loses himself in pursuit of his goal. This is characteristic of inferior Fi.
